A Touch of Vintage Clash
I love the intensity of embroidery and beading on this denim jacket, it makes me want to further clash it with prints and bizarre pieces.

More than E X C I T E D

Quick note -a man at my work explained the apparently old Jewish saying 'I'm not rich enough to buy cheap clothes'. It's quite thought provoking and makes a lot of sense, by spending less on cheaper quality clothes, they are easily destroyed and disposable, but spending more money on good quality goods, means it will last longer and you will put more effort into restoring it if it wears out. Thought this was a great thing for everyone to keep in mind, especially these days with the financial crisis that creeps in and out of our lives.

Hope while shopping for Christmas presents people will think about this and not buy junk/cheap disposable items that will find their way to landfill all to quick!

P.s. promise an outfit post for tomorrow -found some sweet items while thrift shopping today

P.s.s. am shooting the Frankie mag cover tomorrow (am absolutely more than excited!)

This is one of my favourite previous covers. Issues #43 with Joanna from Priscillas

Let  us  S W I M

Had a really fun day doing this shoot, Des Renford Aquatic Centre in Maroubra was spectacular, I plan to spend a day swimming there this summer!

And now on top of my Sass&Bide list of things to buy, there are some sweet 60s summer-fun swimmers! Need to get this uni semester out of the way, to make the shopping more guilt-free..

Lover lace-knit two piece - I need to own this!

Chanel one-piece ...so the saddest thing about these jobs are giving the clothes back at the end of the day!

Favourite Snap

Chrystal Copland in Australian Marie Claire, November 2011. Shot was taken by David Gubert.

Love the colours, textures, her expression, the MAKE-UP! ....and hair! It's all incredible.

Talking about incredible, this Aussie VEGETARIAN beauty opened Louis Vuitton (on her birthday!) in Paris earlier this month ...fashion world, watch out!

M O S C H I N O

Item on the top of my wish list at the moment that I can't get out of my head - I know it's old news, but it just seems like the perfect accessory to dress up jeans and a t-shirt (which I wear almost everyday) or denim shorts and a t-shirt (my summer live-in outfit). Moschino black belt with gold letters.....

Really hoping to add it to my wardrobe  a s a p .

Have a great week-end!

#  Model  #

Ever since I ran into Xanthe Breen, from Priscillas, at the Sydney fashion week castings (agessss ago!) I've been waiting for her online portfolio to be updated to share her incredibleness. She has a beauty that forces onlookers' minds into a state of awe for a quick moment each time. She seems like a carefree spirit, just oozing with natural beauty.

The updated portfolio never really happened, but after coming across the minkpink lookbook at viewsofnow I can finally communicate this beauty's encapsulating energy.

She's sweet, beautiful, mysterious and sexy all in one.

W h i t e  on  W h i t e

If I was told I could only live with three items of clothing for the rest of the summer I would choose a white t-shirt, denim shorts …and a pair of comfortable undies. (Let’s hope that includes a washing machine to use too!)

This look is about a bit of casual chic for a mildly sunny day that we had -the jacket was a lucky second-hand find, it appeared to have never been worn when I found it. Sometimes I feel like it makes me look like an old, responsible woman though, so I ditch it, but when it dresses up a casual outfit like this I simply love it.

Some  S t e l l a  Please

Loving the fresh, clean looks from Stella McCartney's SS12 collection. The boxy upper half of the body, tidied up with clean, and intricate detail edges work so well.

S u n,  G r a i n  and  T h o u g h t s .

Catching some afternoon sun, ended with myself being caught. Somehow images are a result of freezing time. My little sister turned 9 today, I wish I could take a water slide ride back through time and visit the days that have passed since she was born. My memory seems to fail me all too well, I can only remember fragments of things, or specific events, it seems it was better then though compared to now -these days I have trouble remembering what happened 2 days prior! I think it's what's in the water, I've switched my nice-smelling deodorant for a non-aluminium one that completely fails me on hot days (: /) and trying to alternate my fluoride toothpaste with a non-fluoride one, but nope this memory is even worst than an 80 year old woman's.

On an aesthetic note,  I like the grainy effect in this pic. I've had a hair cut, but it has already grown again -there's something so magical about short hair, it seems to grow faster.

K I M O N O

I've been obsessing over loose-fitting, oversized shirts and kimonos lately -I definitely think it has something to do with not having much time in the morning; can't go wrong teaming a shirt or kimono with any plain outfit.

The above pics. are from my womenswear hand-in that I completed this morning, and is also a big reason why I've had to live off 5 hours of sleep each night (early wakers, don't tell me that's nothing -I loveee my sleep and my bed!) This morning was the worst, I got everything except for two sketches for our catalogue draft completed, but my brain felt like it was done, fed up, so I decided to close my eyes, for 40 mins at 7am this morning. I swear no matter how organised you are in this class (and apparently the industry), the last night will always keep you up, because you can just keep going and keep perfecting little things -I'm going to have to learn to give that up and visit my pillow more often though; I honestly feel like I'm getting to old for this kind of thing, it was much easier when I was 18.

The kimono is made from linen, with a foiled cotton centre front and centre back layer detail. There's pockets with a print detail on the inside, buttons and fastening are all gold tone, and you can either wear it with the sleeves closed (i.e. no shoulders being revealed!) or open and loose like in the front pic. This was a rush pic. for my hand in today, so will have it properly pressed and see if I can get some better pics. to post another time. For everyone else who I saw working on their projects at uni over the week-end, wish you luck and a lovely catch-up day of sleep after it's all done.

Diana Sar for   H a r p e r ' s   B a z a a r  -Russia

So remember our favourite Diana Sar who I have mentioned to watch -well here's another reason why! Added to her book is this new editorial in Russia's Harper's Bazaar; loving the look!

P.s. I am still around, have temporarily disappeared from cyber space due to an overload of uni work, friend's birthday trip up to Byron Bay and work work -am getting back on track and will have some outfit posts up as soon as I can ♥

Bonnie Remember That?

One of my favourite memories is my trip to Berlin with my fantastical friend Bonnie! She had the best two connections over there, who took us to the best op shops one could ever hope to visit -especially when you find one that takes payment by the kilo!

That levi's vest was thrifted in Berlin, and I love everything about it -it suits pretty much any outfit, and is the comfiest thing ever.

S k i r t s  and  L e a t h e r
Summer you tasted so sweet while the calender told us it was winter's turn. He's back now, and I miss you like crazy -I'll just pretend you're hiding around the corner with a metal baseball bat, waiting for the right time to kick winter's butt!

S U K I

New photos on the SUKI hairdressing website. Photos taken by the lovely Emmanuel Giraud + styled by the beautiful Heather Cairns of Tangent Mag.

(The SUKI team were so kind and the best kind of fun to be around on a job)

Am currently avoiding uni research work that is due on Thursday -hope everyone who goes back this week is doing OK! A big S H*****T for us. BUT it's only now 4 weeks until winter get s kick up the bum, so lets hope the semester passes smoothly and the sun awaits us after class for a bit longer each day until Spring.

 S u n d a y s

Sundays are made for catching sun, enjoying a late breakfast and coffee at your favourite local cafe, and a hang out with friends in the local park (minus the last part if you have uni research to get done -boo!)

Earlier in the week I discovered a lovely, soft cotton, waffle weave fabric so had to snatch it up and make some jumpers with it! Of course I have the same problem as I do when we find great vintage clothes that are supposed to be for our market stall -being able to stop myself from keeping it. Again another failed attempt, this jumper is now mine.
Jumper: s.e.v.
Shirt: Bershka
Leggings: Avocado
Boots: Fei, Athens
Necklace: Porcelain tea cup by s.e.v.
Hope you've all had a good week-end! Uni starts again for me on Tuesday and I'm stressing like crazy -going to miss my life with sleep-ins, lazy movie nights, and cooking things from scratch.

P l a i t s  -no pleats.

And voila, finally an over-due (top half) outfit post. The monsoon-like rain that we had in Sydney last week kept me mainly inside or outside with boring clothes. I did however experience my first ever Bridget Jones' bus scene, water slam last week! I came home looking like I had a night swim in my clothes -only good part was that it happened on my way home from work, rather than the way there! Phew!  (It was pretty funny though, I had a good laugh at myself before the cold shivers kicked in).

Somehow my hair decided to grow, and I can actually plait it now.

Jacket: Thrifted in Berlin
Cardigan outside: Thrifted on ebay
Cardigan inside: (a guilty purchase) from Zara in Athens
Shirt: munthe plus simonsen  c o p e n h a g e n
Jeans: nathan smith

Winter weather has got the best of me

Nostalgia has over-taken me

Beautiful Ivana from imzcr8

If I could breather in water I would live in it

With my brother who is over there now

Every year Greece's summer steals my heart. This year I got too caught up in work over here in Sydney that I couldn't manage to see a trip to Greece happening, and now it's too late, since uni starts again in two weeks time. So I'm left with nostalgia and regret.
