I love going to castings in the Pacific Magazines building, it's just down the street from where I live, across a park filled with friendly dogs running around, and past one more quiet residential street, before getting to a main road, with some traffic noise and the visual .....pooooouuf! - of a huge complex that appears to have sprung from nowhere! All of a sudden this alienated building looks down on you from it's super high levels, juxtaposed with a flat basketball court, parking lot area.
Approaching the building that seems deserted, all quickly proves to be lively and a world of its own. With people buzzing in the cafe near the entrance and others walking around, going for appointments or leaving from them.
My first time visiting the building was so exciting, and somehow I managed to score an editorial shoot at Brisbane's Cloudland for Australian Marie Claire's September issue last year. Below are some pics.
As for yesterday's trip, walking into a room with girls trying on fun, voluminous vests to keep warm, was kind of surreal! Seems like the perfect job, when there are like 10 clothing racks (and apparently heaps of stuff had just been sent back to their original homes, so 10 was nothing!) packed full of amazing clothes, two bookshelf-like shelve sets filled with shoes and accessories ....I got caught in a day dream that, that was my closet(!!!) and at times got confused where to look because everything seemed so appealing. Hope that the casting/fitting will turn into doing the job, because I can only guess how lovely it would be to see how all the outfits get put together +on whom!
Think working at a magazine would be such a fun job!
(p.s. I tried to get an outfit post before I left home, but it didn't quite work out -next time)
