D i nn e r s  x 3   Birthday x 1

Sometimes all you need is a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

With mild weather denim shirt proves to be very handy as light jacket wear too! And I never imagine wearing my lace button-up top as a vest before, but was very excited by the result.

I've been wearing my denim shirts as my not-quite-summer-weather jackets lately and have been loving them! This photo was waken on the way to my second birthday dinner (second dinner that is, not second birthday! ;p) Going out for dinner with family somehow just makes everything in life seem OK. Just at home now and finished my third birthday dinner for the year! (That is definitely a record number for me -hope you all had a fun wk end!)

Red Jeans and  S H I N E

I love these vintage red levi’s jeans! They are so comfy and I usually feel like a bit of a dork in them too… Somehow I always thought I could only team them with black, but today I dared myself to try something I’ve never put together before… and voila!

(p.s. the singlet is actually a sheer metallic -a light weight foiled cotton, and the back of it is white cotton jersey)

Have a great week-end everyone xx

B L A C K S H I P  Magazine ...Remember the name!

I had a sequence of amazing and unfortunate events yesterday ..I'll leave out the unfortunate, and let you know about the amazing one(s).

Ivana from IMZcr8
I helped assisstmy fascinating model-stylist friend Ivana on a shoot around Bondi yesterday, for a magazine that is being launch in March/April this year. The model was the strikingly-beautiful Tiah from Viviens Models, and all of the clothes/accessories seemed to work with her skin tone and hair colour OH-so well! I was extremely excited by each look that got put together; so I am telling you now, when March/April comes around you must remember the name Blackship and take a look!

If Only You Knew....

If you thought you were strange, you need to check yourself against Miss Strange! She is true to what she likes, isn't afraid of what people will say/think, and is just magical. I love her imagination, her tiger Peter (I always wanted a pet monkey and tiger as a child! ...Well also a unicorn but I gave up on that one last year). She has great ways to reject her 'haters' comments by basically giving them love back haha!

She is a wonderful vegetarian, with some interesting recipes, she seems to know how to throw a hell of a party, and dresses with such a unique style that is true to her name and her love for the 80s -I'm not so sure about all of the cheap clothes (as we know cheap clothes are not designed to last and are bad for the environment) BUT she seems to always have a hell of a lot more funky second hand finds in her looks, which counts for a lot too!

Anyway... see for yourself how incredible this girl is, I'm sure her BLOG will have you hooked and her facebook PAGE will give your day either a bounce of giggle or a touch of inspiration!

Somedays Lovin in B A L I

I spent an incredible week in Bali, getting spoilt by some very lovely people. The shock of being back to the city life has unsettled me ...hopefully with a nice long sleep and a yummy coffee tomorrow morning I might be back on track.

This is a swimsuit outfit story post  ...I tried on these Somedays Lovin swimmers quite some time ago but they didn't have my size. My brother tracked down my size and gave it to me inside a beautiful porcelaine coffee cup for Christmas -and Bali was the perfect opportunity to test them out. Love the Bay Watch red colour and the crisscross at the back.

C O D A   B A Z A R

I got introduced to this website the other day (week) and I must say I was in absolute awe -the Nallik and Low Luv pieces in particular all blew me away ...and I've been thinking about them ever since. What girl does not need a piece of mystical/aztec warrior style jewellery like these?!!
(Number one on my f-never-ending wishlist!)

(This baby is on sale at the moment)

(Also on sale!)
(Yup you guessed it -also on sale ;)

Also the website is full of crisp, clear images and easy to use shopping categories; such as a gift idea tab based on price ranges etc. Check them out, I can see it becoming a great tool for accessorising yourself/friends!

(p.s. there's a pretty good sale happening on a few pieces this very moment -check it out)

Yo Nico! What's Under There?

I was literally (I wish) surfing the net the other day and came across this Aussie label Nico who not only have some incredibly beautiful, unique, quirky but elegant underwear, most amazingly -they are MADE IN AUSTRALIA!

They state that they  '...minimise [their] impact on the environment and make all of [their] garments in Australia under ethical conditions' they also claim that their '...materials are sustainably sourced and Nico Underwear is made to last'. I'm not sure what exactly sustainably sourced means, but I'm guessing it would have to be along the lines of sourcing as locally as possibly (to save on fuel damage to the environment) and hopefully it also means sourcing from crops/factories that consider the environment and either eliminate or reduce their harmful chemical use ...I may be dreaming right now, but lets hope that that is what it means.

Prices are higher than the average bra and undies ...but if everything was made ethically these days, their prices would be standard AND if you think about it, technically they are only higher initially, but if they are as they say they are 'made to last' then you'll be saving by  buying a set that lasts rather than 5 el-cheapo pairs that give in after a month -either way check them out and see for yourself

Added note re: sustainably sourced materials

The super lovely Lis from Nico has let me know what they mean by sustainably sourced materials, basically they acquire fabrics that have minimal environmental impact, and only source from textile suppliers who have a proven ethical production record (this comes down to workers not being exploited, and looking out for workers' safety). Nico's first collection was made from bamboo, bamboo is a pretty amazing fabric in terms of it being harvested without the use of pesticides, and minimal amounts of water (compared to cotton, which uses a huge amount to be harvested!) The most amazing part of bamboo is that it can decompose easily, so basically as long as non-toxic dyes have been used, you can put your old bamboo clothing piece in your compost bin and feed it to your garden later on in life -this is the case of natural bamboo; bamboo viscose is quite different, while it uses minimal water, no pesticides, and is a fast re-generator, the process of turning it into a textile uses just as much energy as most other textiles. Kate Fletcher's book, Sustainable Fashion and Textiles: Design Journeys explains bamboo and its environmental effects more clearly than I possibly could, so I'd recommend reading her book to clarify. To the point ---> It is amazing on its own that nico is AUSTRALIAN MADE, let alone that they consider their environmental impact and ethical codes! I can't explain how happy it makes me, seeing a label like this blossom in our country... hope they stick around for a really long time!
